ABOUT US(ENGLISH)

OurPlanet-TV is a nonprofit media organization founded in 2001. We produce independent news, in-depth stories, and documentaries that you can’t find in Japanese commercial/mainstream/traditional media. OurPlanet-TV also provides spaces to learn how to use videos to bring awareness to the underreported communities and empower people to tell their stories.

Our Mission

Our mission “Standing together, Creating the future” represents our hope to bring about a better future with people raising their voices together. We believe every one of us takes an active role in impartial journalism to document and foster social changes with the power of video.

The Power of Nonprofit Media

Since our founding in 2001, OurPlanet-TV has maintained our core policy of not accepting government funding, corporate sponsorship, or advertising revenues. All our programs and projects are supported by our audience, members, and donors. This is what makes it possible for us to practice independent journalism without being compromised by any corporate or government interests.
OurPlane-TV was legally registered as a nonprofit organization in 2005. With a strong commitment to public service, we were authorized as a certified nonprofit organization in 2016.
